Service Update: October 14-17, 2024, Rock Hill Public Library and the Municipal Library Consortium of St. Louis County will be combining library computer systems with the Missouri Evergreen Consortium. Library patrons will not be able to use the library catalog or access their online account during that time, but will be able to come in and check out items on the shelf. Telescope
Thanks to a partnership with the St. Louis Astronomical Society, library patrons can check out a telescope for seven days (1 week). All you need is a valid adult library card (age 18 minimum).The telescope cannot be renewed or placed on hold. A library staff member can train you on how to use the telescope and help you find additional reference materials for stargazing and telescope use!
Binoculars
Thanks to a partnership with the St. Louis Astronomical Society, library patrons can check out binoculars for seven days (1 week). All you need is a valid adult library card (age 18 minimum). Binoculars can be renewed once and cannot be placed on hold. Binocular kits include one set of binoculars, a nifty user guide, and birdwatching and stargazing guides! A library staff member can train you on how to use the binoculars and help you find additional reference materials for stargazing and binocular use.
Seed Library
The library is pleased to offer seeds free of charge for our patrons! Peruse our collection for veggies, fruits, flowering plants, herbs, grasses, and more to take home and grow in your garden. Patrons are encouraged to save their seeds and share with the library or donate seeds you have to spare to maintain the collection.
Fishing Poles
Thanks to a partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Rod-and-Reel Loaner Program, library patrons with a valid library card can check out fishing poles and simple tackle boxes with hooks, sinkers, and bobbers. Supplies can be checked out for fourteen days (2 weeks). Worms, minnows, or other bait are not provided.
Puzzles
Puzzles of varying sizes can be checked out with a valid library card for fourteen days (2 weeks). Want to get rid of a puzzle with all the pieces included? We accept donations!
Pickleball Sets
Two sets of pickleball equipment are available for check out for patrons with a valid library card for fourteen days (2 weeks). Each set includes two paddles, four balls, and a case to carry the equipment in! Books on pickleball are also available for check out to guide patrons and teach them the rules and strategies of the game.
Cake Pans
Cake pans in various shapes are now available for checkout! Patrons can check out up to two at a time and while they are available for holds, they must be picked up at Rock Hill Public Library. To see what our current collection contains, search “cake pans” in the catalog and choose Rock Hill Public Library from the location options.
STEM Kits
STEM Kits, which combine literacy building and hands-on activities, are available at the library! This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
American Girl Dolls
A small selection of American Girl Dolls are available for both in-house play and check out thanks to a generous donation! Patrons can check out a doll for two weeks with no renewal. American Girl Doll themed books are also available for check out.
